Well, today I had to go to the school to register my twin boys for kindergarten, which started at 8:45 AM. Boy does TIME FLY. I figured I would kill two birds with one stone, so I took my bumpers that morning to get rechromed, since they are only open M-F, 8 - 5 PM. They should be done sometime in May.

Officially start the dismantle of my 69 Grand Prix!!

About 9:30 AM, my Dad came over to help me take the hood, front bumper, radiator, fan shroud, and all of the headlight components off. Later that day I finished removing the rest of the front end, fenders, wheelwells, and radiator support. Much to my surprise, it all came off fairly easy. I now have a slight mess in my garage, which today the 28th, I am going to start cleaning up and organizing the parts. Next is to remove the engine and transmission.

Spent today taking off some more stuff, header pipes, alternator, power steering pump, power brake booster, shocks, anti-sway bar, and other misc. stuff. The front shocks were a real pain to get the top nut off. I had to use the bolt splitter on one of them. As far as the headers, there were 3 bolts I had to chisel, to get them off. Fortunately, the fenders are off, which made it a LOT easier.

It looked like it was going to rain, but around noon time the weather cleared up. I looked at my car, and decided to pull the driveshaft and get the motor and transmission ready to be pulled. It was around 3PM, when it was all ready. My Dad was going to help me pull the motor and tranny, but I decided to do it alone.

I purchased an engine leveler for my engine crane, from Eastwood, and it was one of the best tool purchases I've made. I was able to shift the weight of the motor and tranny to the front, in order to get the transmission mount bolts out through the crossmember holes. I didn't even sweat. I had both out in about 15 minutes.

I disconnected the tranny from the motor, but at first had some trouble. I forgot to remove the dustshield from the tranny, which this goes up behind the flywheel. Duhhh!! When I removed that, the tranny pretty much fell off. I'd like to do some parts cleanup, but today is HAPPY EASTER. Have to do that visiting relative thing. Oh Well!! Give it a rest for today.
