GLACIER BAY

glacierbay1.jpg (27634 bytes) Glacier Bay is one of our national parks.  It is BEAUTIFUL.  I thought it was the best day of the trip.  This was the best glacier we saw.  You could hear it pop and hiss.  At times pieces would break off and an iceberg was formed.

glacierbay2.jpg (32259 bytes) This is the same glacier with two boats for a size reference.  The wall of ice is enormous!

glacierbay3.jpg (27061 bytes) Here you see Beth and me with the glacier in the background.  Luckliy we had nice [but cold] weather this day. We had seen mostly clouds for our first three days in Alaska.

glacierbay4.jpg (24564 bytes) This is another glacier that terminates in the water.  No ships are allowed back near the glacier.  Seals use the many small icebergs to raise their young.

Thursday afternoon we left Glacier Bay and headed for College Fjord.
