This is my Kiev 60 TTL system which uses 120 roll film and
produces square 6cm images. The camera was a gift from a friend with
a camera shop. The lens at left is a Vega 12b f2.8 90mm. The
lens currently shipped from the factory is an 80mm. The lens mounted
on the camera is a Mir 26b f3.5 45mm wide angle. This lens approximates
a 28mm lens view on a 35mm camera and is my "normal" lens.
When I was given the camera the shutter was not working correctly and
the TTL meter prism was out of whack. I sent the body out to
Gevorg Vartanyan at AraxFoto
for repair. His technicians not only overhauled and adjusted the shutter,
they fixed an overlapping frame problem and added a mirror pre-release button,
thereby bringing the body up to current production standards. I recalibrated
the meter prism and it is pretty accurate, though I place more confidence
in my Gossen Luna Pro SBC meter with spot attachment.
The camera also came with a waist level finder that can be used in place
of the TTL prism. I actually prefer the waistlevel finder as it is
brighter and I prefer the "low down" perspective that I can more easily attain
with it. This preference for the waistlevel finder no doubt comes from
using a
Rolleiflex. In truth, I much prefer
the Rollei if I am going to use a "normal" lens as it is much lighter and
compact and is faster to work with. However, for the cost of a shutter
repair I have a terrific wide angle medium format camera. Now if only
I had the money for a new
Arsat
PCS 45mm shift lens <sigh>....
