This is a Venezuelan M1900 bayonet
which I purchased for my Ecuadoran
surplus GEW 88.
I originally thought that this bayonet
somewhat resembled the German
71/84 bayonet, however according to
an email from the seller, Dennis
Ottobre, it is a copy of the Belgian
1889 bayonet and may in fact have
been made under contract in Belgium.
Some may have been modified
from original Belgian 1889 bayonets.
Also, as originally issued this had
a hooked quillon on the cross-
guard, but this bayonet had been
modified from it's original form by
having the quillon removed.
This came with a steel scabbard.
Unfortunately there is no maker
mark present so it leaves the true
source of these in doubt. The only
marking on this example is what I
presume to be serial number 1044
I bought this bayonet from
Dennis Ottobre's

He also sells through the
eBay
online
auction.
