Family Royalty

For 2007, we tried a few new things that worked out pretty well. Since John moved, it's harder to get there so we have Bob using the Tascam recorder, and Ed and John using their Korg's and we've been e-mailing and mailing CD's back and forth so we can all add our parts to songs. It worked out really well, especially on I'll Be Your Baby Tonight, I'm just an Old Chunk of Coal and Never Ending Love .

Bob and Heidi got married in 2007, and they collaborated in writing With You , our best original song yet. Heidi also started contributing to the Ikes Road Band by singing backup on several songs. Valerie also sang a duet with Ed on Never Ending Love. We're working on getting her to do a solo.

John and Ed were talking about what to call the next CD. Since we wanted to do something to honor our parents' generation, and John always referred to them as "Family Royalty", we decided to use that as the title. Ed hunted down photos of all nine of our mother's family with their spouses and put all of them on the front cover. As for the CD itself, Bob had the idea of making it look like a "45", back in '05 but many attempts failed until Ed found a supplier of mini CD labels.
